HASS: MEDICAL INTERPRETER
Hass Agili was born in Tripoli, Libya, in 1983, and is the oldest of seven children. He attended medical school in Libya and was only a few exams away from graduating before he was forced to flee the country for being gay. In 2016, Hass became the only Libyan refugee to be admitted to the United States. Despite facing many challenges, including the struggle to continue his medical education, Hass remained determined. In 2020, he embarked on his journey at Columbia University, where he is majoring in neuroscience and set to graduate in 2023. Hass has been an inspiration to the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in the Middle East, and offers support and help whenever he can. His story is a testament to the resilience and strength of refugees and marginalized communities. After years of hard work and perseverance, Hass became a US citizen in February 2022.
