YUSUF: STUDENT

Yusuf was born in Syria. Everything changed in a day. The sky was filled with smoke and sadness. The trees were shaking and children were frightened of the bombing. He was crying, scared of dying. After his brother was shot, his mother couldn't handle the pain and everything changed again.

Then he left the place he loved. His hometown had become a nightmare.

In Turkey, he felt alone, a big city full of strangers he couldn’t fit in with. He was fifteen, he was meant to be in school, instead, he was working in a foreign land. A small boat led him to Greece where he fought his fears. From Damascus, he travelled by foot, by boat, by train, by car - but all he wanted was home.
